Fundraising, Supporters, The Big Walk

Friday 9 May saw THEBIGWALK get a HUGE helping hand from an incredible group of ladies.

Mount Martha Yacht Club played host to ‘Jules’ Girls Nite In’ – an annual fundraiser organised by Julie Oldenburger, Kellie Pitt and the GNI Committee. Each year, the funds generated from this event are generously donated to a cancer related not-for-profit organisation. After meeting Angela Scaffidi at the Manyung Gallery fundraiser for THEBIGWALK, Julie and the Committee kindly offered to donate the proceeds from this year’s ‘nite in’ to support the Scaffidi Foundation, and what an amazing night it was…

170 ladies turned up, cheque books and credit cards in hand, fully prepared for the festivities and ready to enter into the spirit of the evening. Men were thoroughly scored off of the door list, apart from the selected exceptions. Andrew Felsinger offered to donate his auctioneering expertise for the evening was given a golden ticket into the all female soiree. The other male guest of honour was our very own super walker, Richard Herr, fresh off of the Hume Highway and ready to share tales of his epic walk to Canberra.

After an action packed evening fraught with champagne, laughter, high spirits and an incredible amount of item bidding, ‘Jules’ Girls Nite In’ raised an astonishing $11,560. What an amazing achievement and credit to everyone involved. Extra special thanks to Julie Oldenburger, Kellie Pitt and the GNI committee – Debbie Spiers, Jennifer Clifton, Marg Pike, Gabrielle Collins, Jenny Clarke, Pam Blake, Anita Machin and Loretta Felsinger. Thank you for giving up your time and for working so hard to make the night a huge success.

Thank you to each and every local trader who donated items for the event and to the 170 ladies who left nothing on the shelves! Thanks to Andrew for his fine auctioneering skills and to Martin Thraves, David Mason and the Mt. Martha Yacht Club Committee for generously donating their venue for the evening.

‘Jules’ Girls Nite In’ – we salute you!
